Visas

Entry formalities
A passport or personal identity card is required for crossing the border and serves as proof of nationality and identity. Inside Austria, passports or personal identity cards serve as photo ID cards.

The Schengen States
There are no longer border controls for travel between the following Schengen States. However, border controls can be reinstated temporarily at any time for reasons of security or public order.

Children must have a child ID or be included in the passport of one of their parents.

Dogs and cats
Veterinary certificate and rabies vaccination (not less than four weeks nor more than one year before travel) are required. Mice, hamsters, guinea pigs, rabbits, hares and caged birds: no special papers necessary.
    
Customs Duties
Personal effects
People entering the country can bring in their personal effects free of duty. This covers all items for personal or business use as long as they would reasonably be expected to be used during the journey.
