Currency

Since 1 March 2002, the Euro is the only legal currency in use in Austria.

Austrian and foreign currencies may be brought into and taken out of the country without limit.

Business Opening Times

Banks
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday
from 8.00 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. and from 1.30 p.m. to 3.00 p.m.;

Thursdays
from 8.00 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. and from 1.30 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. Individual provinces may have regional variations.

Post
Monday to Friday from 8.00 a.m. to 12.00 noon and 2.00 p.m. to 6.00 p.m. Payment transactions mostly until 5.00 p.m.

Shops
Trading hours may differ regionally and sometimes by individual sector. Generally, they are Monday to Friday from 8.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. and Saturdays from 8.00 a.m. to 12.00 noon (and in the larger cities and tourist areas until 5.00 p.m.).
